Backstory

Welcome to my September online income report. If this is your first time reading one of my online income reports then read this section for a bit of a backstory. If you’re well versed in my income reports then jump straight to the income report.

Welcome newbie! Here’s a bit of context and back story about my platform and how I arrived at where we are today. I started my blog in December 2018 and started my YouTube channel a year later in December 2019.

I didn’t make any money from my blog in the first year – unless of course, you want to count the £3 I had earned in Amazon Associates Affiliate income over the course of year one. So I’ll preface this income report with a warning that, if you think you’re going to start a blog and be making five figures a month within a couple of months – think again. At least that hasn’t been my experience, and I’ve read all the blogs that promise to help you do this to no avail.

This blog post isn’t all doom and gloom though. I just don’t want to set any false expectations when it comes to blogging. It takes A LOT of hard work to build a blog from scratch and grow an audience. Once you’re able to do this successfully, it can be very rewarding.

Introduction

With that being said, at the start of 2021, I decided to start sharing and documenting my own online earnings. Before I started my blog I read so many of these reports online and was inspired to see if I could follow in some of their footsteps. I’m hoping that my posts can be a source of inspiration to someone reading this too. It would be good a year or two from today, God-willing, to look back at these reports and see how much progress I’ve been able to make and how much income I’ve generated.

In today’s blog post, I’ll share my online income results for September. I share how much I’ve made online via various income streams. This online blog income report shows all of my online income results before taxes and deductions, with the exception of eBay where fees and postage have already been deducted. I only include actual income received in the month and exclude money earned that is yet to be paid.

The two ways I make money online are through active and passive income streams. I’ll start with the passive income streams first as there was only one this month, and then proceed to detail the active income results.

Passive Income

Blog & YouTube Adsense

For the first time in a while, I was unable to meet the £60 minimum payment threshold in September. A big reason for this was my 30 day digital detox challenge that I completed back in August. I didn’t post a single new video in August, or publish a single new blog post, which subsequently reduced my views and income.

Despite August’s inactivity, I still came close to the payment threshold, making £3.99 through blog Adsense, and £54.34 via YouTube Adsense. So you see my total for September came in at £57.73, just £2.27 shy of the £60 threshold. At least I know it’s highly likely in October that I will reach the payment threshold!

Digital Products

As mentioned in my last income report (and the one before that, and the one before that – yes I’m still milking it!), on 22nd March I launched my debut eBook, How I Paid Off £36,000 Debt. In the eBook, I outlined all the steps I took to pay off over £36,000 debt. Another sale of my eBook came in in September which was great given that I still do the bare minimum to promote this book.

Speaking and Brand Partnerships

I had the opportunity to speak at the Black Girl Finance Festival in September which was great. I spoke all about getting financially prepared for investing by paying off your debt. In addition to this, I also worked with a fantastic start-up Brand called Juno, to record a video talking about how to tackle debt. Check out their free app with loads of free modules to improve your financial fitness here.

Ebay

It’s been a while since I last sold items on Ebay. Last month I decided to turn some of the clutter that I had around my home into cash. I was able to sell a few items online, and there’s still so much more to go so I’ll keep reselling and adding items to my store in October.

Ebay paid me  £59.65 in September

Car Boot Sale

I did my first ever car boot sale in September and sold a lot of unused items from around our home.

Car boot sale paid me  £103.50 in September

In total, my active and passive income for September came in at £587.15.
