April 2021 Online Income Report

Backstory

Welcome to my April online income report. If this is your first time reading one of my online income reports then read this section for a bit of a backstory. If you’re well versed in my income reports then jump straight to the introduction.

Welcome newbie! Here’s a bit of context and back story about my platform and how I arrived at where we are today. I started my blog in December 2018 and started my YouTube channel a year later in December 2019.

I didn’t make any money from my blog in the first year – unless of course, you want to count the £3 I had earned in Amazon Associates Affiliate income over the course of year one. So I’ll preface this income report with a warning that, if you think you’re going to start a blog and be making five figures a month within a couple of months – think again. At least that hasn’t been my experience, and I’ve read all the blogs that promise to help you do this to no avail.

This blog post isn’t all doom and gloom though. I just don’t want to set any false expectations when it comes to blogging. It takes A LOT of hard work to build a blog from scratch and grow an audience. Once you’re able to do this successfully, it can be very rewarding.

Introduction

With that being said, at the start of 2021, I decided to start sharing and documenting my own online earnings. Before I started my blog I read so many of these reports online and was inspired to see if I could follow in some of their footsteps. I’m hoping that my posts can be a source of inspiration to someone reading this too. It would be good a year or two from today, God-willing, to look back at these reports and see how much progress I’ve been able to make and how much income I’ve generated.

Here are my income reports to date for you to catch up on:

January Online Income Report

February Online Income Report

March Online Income Report

In today’s blog post, I’ll share my online income results for April. I share how much I’ve made online via various income streams. Additionally, I’ll share my blog, YouTube and Social Media analytics. This online blog income report shows all of my online income results before taxes and deductions. I only include actual income received in the month and excluded money earned that is yet to be paid. For example, I still haven’t reached the £25 threshold for payment with Amazon Associates so the income generated isn’t included in the online income results for this month.

The two ways I make money online are through active and passive income streams. I’ll start with the active income streams first, and then proceed to detail the passive income results.

Active Income

In April I had a few different active income streams which resulted in a much higher overall side hustle income than I’ve been used to since starting my blogging journey. For contractual reasons, I can’t go into too much detail regarding exactly how much I was paid for some of those active income streams. Instead what I’ll do is give an explanation of each of the income streams and then give you the active income total.

Coaching

I do provide one-to-one coaching sessions with clients wanting help creating a budget to help pay off debt, save, invest and achieve their financial goals. I don’t promote this service because, in all honesty, there are not enough hours in the day to fit it all in! However, if you’re interested in having a call, you can contact me here and we can schedule a call to discuss your requirements.

Speaking Engagements

I’ve been fortunate enough to do a few speaking events this year which has been amazing. This was something I wrote a few years ago on my bucket list of jobs I would love to do if I didn’t need to work for money. Sharing my knowledge and experience in personal finance with a captive audience and receiving their positive feedback is such an incredible feeling! I spoke at The Young Emerging Collectives event Making Money Moves to an audience of 18-25 year olds.

Brand Partnerships

I worked on StepChange’s Debt Awareness Week campaign in March and recorded a video talking about what to do when overwhelmed by debt. StepChange is a debt relief charity and a great place to go for fee-free debt advice.

I don’t do a lot of brand work as I don’t want to turn into that content creator that’s just shoving products and services down your throat! However, if it’s a brand I believe in and a worthy cause that will help you then I’m happy to promote it.

Coaching, Speaking Engagements and Brand Partnerships paid me £640 in April

Surveys

I know there are lots of survey sites out there, but out of all the sites I’ve used, Prolific. is my absolute favourite. I wasn’t very active on the site in April though and only completed a handful of surveys.

Prolific paid me £6.33 in April

Passive Income

Blog

Blog Earnings

I was able to meet the £60 minimum payment threshold in April thanks to my blog and YouTube Adsense.  The money paid in April was earned in March. As mentioned at the start of the report, I only like to report on money received and not earned.

The graph below is taken from my Google Adsense report for March. The graphs show a daily breakdown of the money earned each day via my blog. In March the highest income was £1.51 on the 3rd, and the lowest was £0.02 on the 13th.

Blog Content

I  published 2 blog posts in April, they were:

YouTube

YouTube Content

In April I posted 7 YouTube videos to my channel, links to which I’ve included below:

How To Thrive With Your Finances in 2021 | T-Money Talks S2 Episode 3

YouTube Analytics

My impressions are down 1% to 238.0 from 238.4 k in March, which means less people are getting the opportunity to watch my videos. My impressions CTR is up 9% which is good as it tells me that changing my thumbnail design last month is having a positive effect on my channel.

YouTube Analytics April

I gained 233 new subscribers in April which is 3 higher than it was in March, making April now my highest month for new subscribers.

Thank you to everyone that has subscribed to my channel, I’ve now reached over 2,700 subscribers and it’s slowly growing each week. I’m still on a mission to reach 10,000 by the end of 2021. Seems like mission-impossible right now, but it would be amazing if you could help me make this a reality. If you’re yet to do so, check out my channel here and subscribe.

YouTube Payments Received

Just like with the blog AdSense, the AdSense revenue earned from my YouTube channel in March was paid in April.

In March I earned – £94.14 via my YouTube ads

In total for my blog and YouTube channel, Google Adsense paid me £104.92 in April

Etsy

April was another zero income month for my Etsy store. The results of my lack of effort with the store are starting to show. I am embarrassed to report that in the month of April my Etsy store earned a big fat £0. Yes, you read that right, I didn’t sell a single product on my Etsy store in April.

Etsy paid me £0 in March

Own Digital Products

As mentioned in my last income report, on 22nd March I launched my debut eBook, How I Paid Off £36,000 Debt. In the eBook I outlined all the steps I took to pay off over £36,000 debt. A few more sales of the ebook and my printables came in this month which was great given my lack of promotion of these products.
